This year’s raffle quilt features a colorful antique 'Double Wedding Ring' design. It is both hand sewn and hand quilted with a muslin back. Double Wedding Ring designe in quilts have long symbolized love and unity. It is a challenging pattern that became popular in the 1920s, and continues to reflect the artistic skill and emotional significance of quilting.
Our quilt show is super popular and has a rich history. After all, over 50 years ago, it was the women of Water Mill who crafted a Water Mill themed quilt and raffled it off to raise money, to preserve teh mill and make it into a msueum. That money was the seed from this this Museum grew. The original quilt was gifted back to us and is treasured in our Museum for all to see.
